• I write books.

I do! It's true. I have written for all sorts of different audiences. My first book was literary adult fiction and I've written many many books that have fallen into the category "juvenile fiction" and "YA fiction". I talk about my books and writing in general on my other site, which is at www.karenrivers.com. (I don't know how to make that a live link, so you may have to copy and paste.) (Sorry.) THIS site is about me, my hair, my kids, my appliances, and that time that I rode my bike down a cliff and then got stung by a bee. It may not all be appropriately awesome (or even slightly interesting) to kids, so if you are young, LOOK AWAY. That said, there is nothing harmful here, except the occasional swear, which I ask you to edit out with your eyes. Blink blink.

  • Is it safe to eat raw bacon?

No. You shouldn't eat any raw pork products. You could get trichinosis and no doubt a number of other food-borne illnesses. With the recent change in food safety standards, I'd frankly cook the crap out of any meat product I purchased before eating it. Even if it's already cooked. Seriously. Keep in mind that I am not a raw bacon expert, I just play one on the web.

The Bachelorette, Episode 6: What DID happen to Frank’s tooth? Can’t ABC fix that?

The most common hit my site is getting these days is “What happened to Frank’s tooth?”   Answer:  I have no idea!  But thanks for coming by! And yes, Wes IS a douchebag!   (Second highest hit rate from the exact phrase, “Wes is a douchebag”.   Hi Wes!) But then again, so is Justin! [...]

The Bachelorette, Episode 5. Oh, who cares? In other news, Jake and Vienna are Splitsville.

A long time ago, I stumbled across a little gem of information that said that Jake had a girlfriend to whom he was engaged and they tried to get her onto the show but for some reason, the producers thought this was a stupid idea and so Jake and his girlfriend agreed that he should [...]

The Bachelorette, Episode 4. Someone file a restraining order, Krazy is in da house.

It’s neat how “Kasey” is only one or two letters away from KRAZY, isn’t it?  Except it’s not, really, because CRAZY and KASEY really only share an “A” and a “Y” so I’m already not making sense and I’ve only just begun to type.   Anyway, in my head, I call him “Krasey” which is [...]

The Bachelorette: Episode 3. I can’t even come up with a witty title for this show and I’ve tried for two days.

I’m late with this recap because I was busy and honestly, writing this all down was suddenly as appealing as a root canal, which I’ve never had but am as terrified of as I am of rattlesnakes and men weilding machetes.  I’d like to add that I watched this episode with my 12 year old [...]

The Bachelorette: Episode 2 – Clash of The Idiots.

I hate blogging The Bachelorette right after blogging a previous episode of The Bachelorette with nothing in between because it makes me feel like I’m a person who blogs The Bachelorette and has nothing else going on and I swear, I DO have other things going on (some of which are still SECRETS) but apparently [...]
